Our Story

A Legacy of Ceylon Gems, Carried Forward

Founded in 2023 by Mr. Asir Nizam Jabir and Mr. Hasitha, Lanka Gem Fields is a contemporary Sri Lankan gemstone house built upon a heritage spanning four generations.

Although the Lanka Gem Fields name marks a new chapter, its roots are connected to generations of experience within Sri Lanka’s historic gemstone trade, particularly in Beruwala and Chinafort, internationally recognised centres for gemstone trading, cutting, treatment and export.

From early overseas correspondence and international journeys to leadership within respected gem associations, this legacy has been shaped by knowledge, trusted relationships and a longstanding connection to the world of exceptional Ceylon gemstones.

Heritage Across Generations

Knowledge and relationships, developed across generations.

Archival records trace the family’s international presence to 1933, when S. M. Jabir Hajiar corresponded with the American Express Company to establish connections with overseas jewellers interested in importing precious stones from Ceylon.

His first visit to London followed in 1935, reflecting an international outlook at a time when global gemstone travel and trade were still uncommon.

Over the following decades, members of the family were represented at important industry exhibitions, meetings and engagements involving leading Sri Lankan gem traders, international associations and distinguished national figures. These milestones demonstrate a legacy founded not only on trade, but also on industry participation, credibility and relationships developed across generations.

The Lanka Gem Fields Chapter

Heritage, presented for a modern international market.

In 2023, Mr. Asir Nizam Jabir and Mr. Hasitha established Lanka Gem Fields with a shared vision: to preserve this heritage while presenting Sri Lanka’s rarest natural treasures to a modern international market.

Together, they combine established gemstone knowledge with a refined, collector-focused approach. Lanka Gem Fields specialises in carefully sourced natural, rare and collector-grade gemstones, selected for their colour, clarity, character, origin and long-term significance.

Our collection is created for discerning private buyers, established collectors, international jewellers and connoisseurs who understand that a remarkable gemstone is defined by more than carat weight alone.
